Survey being launched by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and The Riverfly Partnership in Looe to help monitor pollution in the river. The focus of the sampling is on ‘riverflies’ – mayflies, stoneflies and caddisflies which are very sensitive to pollution and are therefore good indicators of water quality. Regular monitoring is the best way of identifying pollution incidents early and enabling a rapid response.
About being a Riverfly Partnership Volunteer
If you can commit to taking a monthly sample (river levels permitting of course!) you will need to attend a Riverfly training day so that you can become a Riverfly Partnership volunteer. At the end of the training day you will receive a free sampling kit, enabling you to get straight out on your own sampling site(s). Just another way that all Looe residents can help with the goal to improve Looe’s bathing water quality rating.
