Hannafore Beach, West Looe, Monday 2 January 1 pm
Join us for our New Year Beach Clean and Social to Announce Looe Marine Conservation Group 2017 Events Calendar. Meet at 1 pm at the Coastguard Station. We’ll work off some Christmas excess on a litter pick (weather dependent) before we retreat to the warmth and comfort of the Hannafore Point Hotel to launch our 2017 programme.
Find out who we are, what we do and how to get involved in our exciting programme of events. You can help share and conserve our amazing marine habitats in and around Looe. We’ll be releasing the 2017 dates for our talks, walks, beach cleans, rockpool rambles, festival events, workshops, snorkel safaris, wildlife watches, arts & craft sessions, surveys and training.
Oh and bring along a raffle prize to the Hannafore Point afterwards. You never know, you might win something useful that someone else didn’t want for Christmas!
The importance of a beach clean
Across the country, more and more communities are collaborating to clean up and protect their environment. In Cornwall in particular, winter storms strand marine debris and ghost fishing gear on our beaches and the plastic found in the ocean is a devastating threat to wildlife and mankind. People power is making a difference. There are some brilliant examples of what different communities are doing to help address the problem.
Be part of the solution! Join us on January 2.
